Naphthenic Base Oils or Alkylated Naphthalene’s are Group V base oils made from distillates of crude-oil and are useful in formulating high performance synthetic lubricants.

The aromatic framework connected to long chain alkyl-groups provides favourable properties such as additive solubility, low volatility, seal compatibility and excellent thermal and oxidative stability relative to mineral base oils. They also have lower pour points than conventional mineral oils due to the lower paraffin content.

Synesstic™ AN base stocks

A synthetic base stock for step-out hydrolytic and thermo-oxidative stability. As a blend component with PAO or mineral oils, Synesstic alkylated naphthalene can extend the performance of your lubricant.

Benefits

  • Increased thermal and oxidative stability
  • Increased hydrolytic stability
  • Good additive solvency
  • Seal compatibility

Applications

Synesstic AN (Alkylated Naphthalene) base stocks are well suited for lubricants in a variety of automotive and industrial applications. Synesstic AN is particularly suited for use as a base stock in synthetic lubricant applications that require high stability under extreme operating conditions.
