Power transmission fluids ideally should provide fuel efficiency through optimised lubricant viscometrics and minimisation of downtime via extended drain intervals and extension of component life. The additives used as factory or service fill should be able to provide smooth clutch shift, handle increasing fluid power requirements and provide a noise and vibration free operating experience.

In addition, there is an increasing requirement to meet OEM performance such as Caterpillar, Komatsu and Allison in the case of power transmission fluids. In contrast, tractor hydraulic fluid should meet performance stipulated by most modern agricultural equipment worldwide such as John Deere and Massey Fergusson.
